Hampshire Autistic Society
The aim of Hampshire Autistic Society is to give choice, opportunity, professional advice, education, support and care to all those affected by autism so as to enable them to fully achieve their potential.
They depend on their volunteers, and always need more people to get involved. From admin work, to jumping out of planes - if you have the time, they will provide the training and some great opportunities!
Hampshire Deaf Association
There are over 200,000 people in Hampshire and the Isle of Wight who are deaf, deafened, or hard of hearing. The practical support given by Hampshire Deaf Association ensures that no one needs to cope with deafness alone.
Volunterers are involved in most areas of work, and are placed according to their preferences, skills and experiences.
Mencap
Mencap is the UK's leading learning disability charity working with people with a learning disability and their families and carers. There are opportunities to volunteer as a classroom assistant in a special needs school, assist at national sports events, act as a buddy or peer mentoring to 16 - 25 year olds, help with conservation projects and assist on a new and exciting partnership with the National Trust.
Riding for the Disabled Association
RDA is dedicated to improving the lives of people with disabilities, through the provision of opportunities for riding and/or carriage driving. Groups enable people to improve their health and wellbeing, delivering a real and lasting therapy that not only benefits mobility and co-ordination, but encourages confidence and self worth whilst having fun.
Caring volunteers are needed to help with local groups; no previous experience of working with horses or disabled people is needed as full training will be given. There is also the opportunity to fund raise for the charity.
Southampton Society for the Blind
SSB is a local charity which aims to relieve the needs of blind and partially sighted people (of whom there are an estimated 2,000 plus) in Southampton. They are always on the look out for volunteers to help run our activities, be it minibus drivers, escorts, fundraisers and more.
Whizz-Kidz
Whizz-Kidz changes disabled childens' lives - literally overnight. By providing them with customised mobility equipment, training and advice, we actually give them something much more important. We give them the independance to live a life of freedom.
Almost 100% of our income is voluntary so whether you're raising money or saving money by giving your time, we really value the support of all our volunteers. Opportunities include campaigning in the region and in schools, volunteering at events and marathons, and fundraising.
