Bail for Immigration Detainees (BID)

BID is the only charity that exists to provide a free bail service to detainees, and by keeping costs to a minimum they are able to make the most of any support  received. BID does not receive government funding to carry out our work; they are supported by charitable trusts, individual donors and membership fees. They also rely on the generous contribution of time from volunteers who are trained to prepare the bail applications and also support the organisation's finance and administration needs.
BID could not function without the support and commitment of volunteers; in case-work in the office, in court and in administration. They offer training and experience, and in return ask that people commit to a certain length of time, during office hours (Monday to Friday).

City Life Education + Action for Refugees (CLEAR)

The CLEAR Time Together project aims to match UK volunteer mentors with refugees in order to assist them in acheiving their goals in education, employment and integration. Mentors are required to spend a minimum of five hours a month with their mentee as they introduce them to life in the UK.

Inter-links

Want to make a difference? Don't spend those first few weeks home alone - why not join the Interlinks scheme and make friends across the world? Learn a new language or brush up on an old one!
An allocated "buddy" provides practical help and support for new international students, as well as the opportunity to meet up and practice language skills.
For home students, there is the opportunity to practice another language and learn about a different culture.
Once allocated a buddy, the length and frequency of meetings is entirely up to you!

International Students Social Programme

The Students' Union Advice and Information Centre (SUAIC) runs a variety of cultural trips for International students and their families throughout the year.
Last year, trips included places such as London, Windsor Castle, Longleat and Bath.
Volunteers are needed to assist on these trips, to ensure that everyone is present on the coach, and gets into all of the attractions!

Tools for Self Reliance

Working with local organisations in some of the poorest countries in Africa, Tools for Self Reliance refurbishes tools in the UK and then sends them to communities in Africa. They support rural artisans and craftworkers with tools and training so they can imporve their businesses. Volunteers are needed for the Netley Marsh workshop to help collect and refurbish tools.
