Safe in Sound

Safe in Sound is a voluntary project committed to raising awareness of the risks associated with substance use, reducing harm and promotioning the health, safety and enjoyment of people using local entertainment venues.
Volunteers are needed for outreach activities when visiting clubs, events and festivals to distribute information, raise awareness, help and reassure and promote safety.

Southampton City and Region Action to Combat Hardship (SCRATCH)

SCRATCH manages various social action projects that currently operate in Southampton and the surrounding areas. Volunteers can give as much or as little time as they wish. Perhaps you have a couple of hours to spare once a week, a fortnight or a month? You can help out with administration, domestic appliance testing and repair, furniture delivery, paint recycling, providing emergency food and clothes, as a receptionist, or as a shop assistant.

Society of St James

The Society of St James is a registered charity in Southampton, providing accommodation with care and support to homeless and vulnerably-housed people. It is only through the support of individuals, groups, schools, churches, companies and charitable trusts, that the Society is able to continue providing support for homeless people in Southampton. There are many opportunities for volunteers.

The Bridge

The Bridge is a Tier 2 Drugs Service, commissioned by the Southampton Drugs Action Team. Its aim is to engage drug and alcohol users in drug treatment and reduce drug-related harm. The Bridge recognises the contribution made by trained and supervised volunteers in achieving this aim and recruits and supports people from the local community in this role.

Young Carers Project

Southampton Young Carers Projects works with children and young people under the age of 18 years old, whose lives are affected by caring for an unwell or disabled family member.
The project currently provides 5 youth groups to support young carers in the city, including groups for young people who help to care for an ill or disabled sibling. The project also provides a befriending service for young carers and 1:1 support, information designed for young people on specific illnesses, caring and activities and trips.
