Baseline
The Baseline project was set up by the crime reduction charity, Crime Concern, and works with 10 - 16 year olds from inner city areas of Southampton.
Baseline provides sports activities, a youth club, and also works with young people who are at risk of offending or are involved in anti-social behaviour. Mentors are needed to support young people and help them to take positive steps towards their future.
Community Play Link
Community Play Link's aim is to offer low coast activities for parents/carers and their under fives by supporting and developing Toy Libraries and Toddler Groups.
Volunteers help with supporting groups by making refreshments, providing drinks and snacks for adults and under fives and helping to put out and pack away toys. In addition, support may be required in other ways, as agreed with the group contact.
Entry to Employment (E2E)
This organisation helps support young people to get back into education or employment. Volunteers are needed to help with admin at the office in Southampton centre, to help with sporting and other activities for the young people, and to help encourage young people to get involved in community projects and volunteering and develop their skills. The Rainbow Project
The Rainbow Project aims to relieve vulnerable young people in and around Southampton who are in need of accommodation and appropriate support, advice, counseling, and assistance.
Volunteers with an interest in homelessness and young people are needed to sit on the Executive Committee, which meets once a month.
Please note that there are no opportunities at present to work with the young people themselves.
On the Level
To support young people leaving local authority care by providing them with a volunteer mentor for one year, who support care leavers with the practical and emotional issues of leaving care; 50 hours initial training given with weekly training thereafter.
Solent Skill Quest
Working in partnership with businesses, colleges, schools and the wider community in Southampton and South West Hampshire, Solent Skill Quest aims to broker mutually beneficial relationships and facilitate learning programmes that help young people and adults to develop their employment skills and understanding about the workplace.
Volunteers are always needed to assist as mentors and to help out at one-off educational events throughout the year.
Solent Youth Action
SYA, established in 2005, offers young people aged 16 - 24 the opportunity to get involved in volunteering and to make a real difference to their community.
If you are looking to participate in the VInvolved award, where volunteers are accredited with a certificate after completing 50 hours of volunteering, then Solent Youth Action can assist you in this process.
Southampton Scouts
There are 35 Scout troops in Southampton, as well as Air and Sea Sounts. This amounts to nearly 2000 young people incolved in the Scout Association in the city.
Scouts rely on adult volunteers to lead, help, support and administer the groups. Full training is given; no matter how little time or experience you have., Southampton Scouts would love to hear from you.
Whizz-Kidz
Whizz-Kidz aims to give disabled children independent mobility through provision of customised mobility equipment and training. Volunteers are required to deliver and participate in wheelchair skills training for young disabled children, as well as fundraising, marketing, PR and awareness campaigns.
